July 30, 31, and August 1&2 2019 - Day 5-8 - Wisconsin Dells - Sherwood Forest Campground

July  30, 31,  and August 1&2  2019 - Day 5-8  Wisconsin Dells - Sherwood Forest Campground

July 30, 2019

Ron decided to get off the back roads and get onto some major roadways. We made good time today driving 300 miles and geting to our first planned stop the Wisconsin Dells. We had planned on visiting the Wisconsin Dells on other trips  but never seemed to find the time.

The Dells is a huge tourist attraction with lots to do for young families. Lots of rides and amusement and water parks. Our plan was to do the boat tour of the upper Dells and the Duck tour of the lower Dells.

We tried to get 5 or more days but were told that they could only give us four nights. We settled in for the night to plan the remainder of our stay.

July 31, 2019  Boat Tour of the Lower Dells

The boat tour of the Upper Dells was amazing. Pictures don't do it justice. The outcroppings of rock were beautiful. Ron and  I were saying that  this boat tour reminded us of the tour we took of  Picture  Rocks in the upper peninsula in Michigan.

After the tour we stopped for  a late lunch at Famous Dave's Barbecue.  Well we were in  for  a big surprise.

We ordered the dinner for two and received our meal on a giant trash can cover. There was enough food on that cover for  six people.  We dug in and  I have to say it was delicious!

We had a ton of food left over so had it packed up to go. After dinner  walked around the town to burn o some calories. It was an amazing day and finally felt like we were really on vacation. It felt good knowing we didn't have to pack up to leave fr a couple of more days.

August 1, 2019  Day 8 - Circus World Museum

Circus World Museum - Wikipedia

We went to the Circus World Museum  where we enjoyed live circus  performers that morning. The show was amazing and captivating.

After the show we went to the display of Circus Wagons. They are incredibly beautiful and a lot bigger then we ever thought they would be. Many of them were at least 15 feet tall and some telescoped up to 20 feet tall.

Later we stopped to see the tigers. Most were sleeping so we headed back to the CG. We spent about 6 hours there and it was well worth the visit.

Back at the CG we decide to take advantage on the free time, read, eat dinner (leftovers from Dave's) and just relax.

August 2, 2019  - Day 9 - Duck Tour, Lower Dells and evening at the Rick Wilcox Magic Theater

On the Duck Tour we traveled through the woods into the Wisconsin River, over land again then into the Delton Lake.

It was a fun 2 hour ride but as advertised in comments the upper Dells is much prettier.  We went back to the CG and hung before getting ready to go to the Magic show that evening. Instead of eating Dave's leftover we decide to hit another restaurant on the way to the Magic show. Instead of eating a a local venue we ate at Denny's. LOL

The Magic show was great. We were only about 8 rows from the stage and all we kept saying was"How did he do that???".

We had another great day and now it is time to move on. Despite telling us they were full at the CG we have yet to see that happen.
