We left Letchworth around 10:30 am. So happy we were able to spend some time there. Our next stop on the way home is Woodstock in Bethel, New York. Last weekend was the 50th Anniversary celebration. We were hoping it wouldn't be too crowded when we arrived.
The drive to Woodstock was on winding back roads that were sometimes nerve racking to negotiate. My expert driver, Ron, did a great job. We arrived there around 3 pm and to our surprise there were very few people there.
We did not attend Woodstock in 1969 and have not kept up with what has been happening in that area so were surprised to learn that the Woodstock Music Festival Site is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The museum is housed in the Bethel Woods Center of the Arts. It is an amazingly beautiful building and something we weren't expecting.
In the museum we watched a short video on what had happened during that weekend. Quite interesting and amazing to think there were over 400,000 young people there. No major law enforcement issues!
Very interesting place to see for sure. Good experience after the fact lol.
After leaving Woodstock our quest was to find a rest area to spend the night. There were no CG"s in this area so we were hoping to find a decent rest area.
